Yes f) Do you support requiring parental consent before an abortion is performed on a minor?
Yes g) Do you support the prohibition of public funds for abortion procedures?
No h) Do you support the prohibition of public funds for organizations that perform abortions?
Although I personally would not recommend an abortion, I do not think that the government should have the right to take away a woman's choice. However, I do think that there can be restrictions on a right. For example time restrictions or waiting periods.

Yes k) Do you support applying sales taxes to all online purchases?
Teachers in Tennessee should receive higher compensation. Education funds for K-12 education should be increased even though funds are currently being spent in all the correct programs. I support Insure Tennessee that will help local rural hospitals. For Law enforcement we need programs leading to community policing. Some areas of our state need better roads and basic infrastructure to ensure new jobs to Tennessee will not all go to the same areas of the state. I don't like welfare but I do not want to reduce and have children suffer. We need to look at alternatives to our present system.
I think we can raise the tax on gas by a few cents to maintain our roads. We rely on our roads for tourism and they need to be in good shape. I believe that we can eliminate the grocery tax by increasing the tax on beer, soda, high sugar snacks, restaurant food and made in store foods.

a) Do you support limits on the following types of contributions for state candidates?

Yes 1) Individual
Yes 2) Political Action Committee
Yes 3) Corporate
Yes 4) Political Party
Yes b) Should candidates for state office be encouraged to meet voluntary spending limits?
Yes c) Do you support requiring full and timely disclosure of campaign finance information?
Yes d) Do you support the use of an independent AND/OR bipartisan commission for redistricting?
No e) Do you support requiring a government-issued photo identification in order to vote at the polls?
Incumbents seem to get all the money to campaign. We should have a level playing feild. We should limit the amount spent for each office. This may encourage more people to run for office and encourage new ideas.
Yes a) Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
Yes b) Do you support alternatives to incarceration for certain non-violent offenders, such as mandatory counseling or substance abuse treatment?
Yes c) Do you support legalizing the possession of small amounts of marijuana?
Yes d) Should a minor accused of a violent crime be prosecuted as an adult?
Yes e) Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration laws by state and local police?
Yes f) Do you support delaying the seizure of assets by law enforcement officials until after a conviction?
Yes g) Do you support additional funding for programs intended to reduce drug addiction in Tennessee?
I think we need to look at the crime and the background of the minor to see if the minor should be tried as an adult.
Yes a) Do you support government spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
No b) Do you support lowering taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes c) Do you support reducing government regulations on the private sector?
Yes d) Do you support increased state funding for job-training programs that re-train displaced workers?
No e) Do you support expanding access to unemployment benefits?
No f) Do you support requiring welfare applicants to pass a drug test in order to receive benefits?
Yes g) Do you support providing financial incentives to the private sector for the purpose of job creation?
No h) Do you support providing direct financial assistance to homeowners facing foreclosure?
Yes i) Do you support an increase of the minimum wage?
No j) Should employers be able to ask about applicants' criminal history before interviewing them?
I would not require a drug test for welfare if that would take money from families with children. I would be Ok with it if the parents had to get into a program to get clean in order to continue the welfare payments. I believe in a hand up not a hand out. If we can spend government money to build infrastructure I would support spending Government money to promote economic growth. I support reducing government regulations as long as they do not infringe on the safety of the consumer or promote fraud against the consumer
No a) Do you support the national Common Core State Standards initiative?
Yes b) Do you support a merit pay system for teachers?
No c) Is the tenure process for public school teachers producing effective teachers?
No d) Should parents be allowed to use vouchers to send their children to any school?
No e) Do you support state funding for charter schools?
Yes f) Do you support the state government providing college students with financial aid?
Yes g) Should illegal immigrants who graduate from Tennessee high schools be eligible for in-state tuition at public universities?
I know that most of the parents in my district are against Common Core and so I would not vote to support it. I think education should be locally controlled. I do believe in merit pay for teachers but the current system of evaluations is extremely flawed. I do not believe that tenure creates better teachers. However, we need to make sure that districts cannot just get rid of older teachers so they can hire new teacher at a lees price. ai have mixed reservations on school vouchers.
Yes a) Do you support state funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
No b) Do you support state funding for the development of traditional domestic energy sources (e.g. coal, natural gas, oil)?
Yes c) Do you support state funding for improvements to Tennessee's energy infrastructure?
Yes d) Do you support state funding for open space preservation?
Yes e) Do you support government regulations of greenhouse gas emissions?
Yes f) Do you support increased regulations of the hydraulic fracturing ("fracking") industry?
g) Other or expanded principles:
No a) Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
Yes b) Should background checks be required on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows?
Yes c) Should citizens be allowed to carry concealed guns?
Yes d) Should a license be required for gun possession?
Yes e) Do you support allowing concealed carry on public college campuses in Tennessee?
I generally support the 2nd Amendment. I would never vote against a constitutional right. However, I do believe that sensible gun responsibility can be legislated. I said that a person should be required to have a license to carry a gun and I am only referring to a concealed weapon.
Yes a) Do you support a universally-accessible, publicly-administered health insurance option?
Yes b) Do you support expanding access to health care through commercial health insurance reform?
Yes c) Do you support interstate health insurance compacts?
Yes d) Do you support Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
Yes e) Do you support requiring individuals to purchase health care insurance?
Yes f) Do you support monetary limits on damages that can be collected in malpractice lawsuits?
Yes g) Do you support allowing doctors to prescribe marijuana to their patients for medicinal purposes?
I know that Obamacare is flawed and I would support legislation to replace it or to make it better. I would not support legislation that would abolish it and leave millions of people without health care.
Yes a) Do you support same-sex marriage?
Yes b) Do you support the inclusion of sexual orientation in Tennessee's anti-discrimination laws?
No c) Do you support the inclusion of gender identity in Tennessee's anti-discrimination laws?
I believe in the constitution and the supreme court and if the ruling is that same sex marriage is a right then I will support it. I do not think that sexual orientation should be a reason to discriminate. I think sometimes we make laws just to prove some kind of a point and sometimes those laws are not needed. I believe that the government that governs least governs best. Lets not make silly laws just to make a law.
I think we need to look at better mental health laws, drug courts to treat drug addiction as an illness, more High School vocational opportunities for students, local controlled education, better and less expensive health care, and infrastructure to create more and better jobs in rural areas.
